A signing, and a few who are close

Just confirmed that Ketcham senior catcher Kyle Kalaka committed to LeMoyne, as was mentioned here by someone over the weekend.
I’ve been told Stepinac’s Alex Maruri will commit soon, but he and his family are still trying to determine what school is best for Alex and his future, on and off the field. UPDATE 6:30 P.M. Just talked to Crusaders coach Pat Duffy. He’s been on visits to Illinois, St. Louis, Elon, High Point and UNC-Greensboro. St. John’s is also in the mix, and it doesn’t look like Wake and Maryland are likely, despite both showing interest in his bat.
You also have the two lefties. Mahopac’s C.J. Riefenhauser hasn’t decided yet. And I couldn’t help but cringe two weeks ago when I covered Mahopac’s 46-39 win over Fox Lane every time C.J. made a tackle. With that fresh in my mind, I found out today that Clarkstown North lefty Chris O’Grady tore both his ACL and MCL playing QB for the Rams during the second game of the season, which I’d imagine puts his ‘08 baseball season in jeopardy. I hear there are still D-I schools interested even though he’s injured. After all, it’s a leg not his left arm.
I’ll end on this note…good luck to Chris in his recovery. I hope everyone else can wish him well, too.

Josh Thomson has done some of everything since joining The Journal News in
March 2003. He began working for the Gannett weeklies during the winter of
2002 as a freelance writer. He joined the daily staff soon after and has
since covered various high school and pro sports. Away from sportswriting,
Josh lives in Westchester and spends his free time either with his
fiancee, Sarah, or expertly managing his various championship-winning
fantasy sports teams. He's visited 21 major-league baseball stadiums and
insists that Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are the best by far. Josh
graduated from Carmel High School in 1998, then went to Boston University,
where, in 2002, he received a degree in communications with a minor in
history.
Jake Thomases has covered baseball, hockey, girls basketball, and girls soccer for the Journal News since arriving in 2003. He previously interned at The Poughkeepsie Journal while attending Vassar College. He is socking money away under his mattress to buy the Knicks, at which time he will trade Jerome James to Cleveland for a ham sandwich.

Dont worry about CJ. He uses his head to tackle and its hard enough to stop anything.
Congrats to Kyle. A hard worker who is a nice kid. Nice family and thanks again for CD. It was a pleasure meeting you all at the ESGS. Good luck.
How about some of the other kids around Section One? It seems like this blog is pretty biased towards a few select players (Maruri, Adami, Riefenhauser, Hagan, Herzenberg, Proscia, Panik…basically all starting pitchers from Empires and a few select positional guys). What about some of the other players from around section 1? Enough about these guys they got their play already.
PJ Diresta from Mahopac has committed this past weekend to Albany. Haven’t heard too many others as of yet. These next 3 weeks will tell alot especially for those playing in the last few events of the fall and those going to Jupiter. This last event is one of the most scouted events of the year and many offers are given on the spot. 80 top teams and 500+ scouts/recruiters from around the country will be there. I’m sure there will be many section one players attending.
Yes and many of the HV players mentioned will be there.
I will be there looking for a job.
From what I hear Arlington’s Gregg Ackley is close to commiting to LIU. If anyone can verify this that would be great.
