  1. lohud

    Isn’t Panetta a junior?

  2. Josh Thomson

lohud…He is. I’m not sure why he’s on the list.

  3. nyfan

JOSH PADRO ALVEREZ EX BAYSIDE YANKEE NOW AT VANDY,HE IS AT THE TOP OF LIST BUT,I AM NOT SURE IF HE IS FROM YONKERS OR THE BRONX AS A HOME TOWN ,AND YES TIM IS ONLY A JR,P/G SHOULD HAVE HIM ON THERE 09 FOLLOW LIST

  4. Pedro* Alvarez

...lives in the Bronx. He attended Horace Mann HS in Riverdale and lives in the southern section of the Bronx.

  5. Preppie

PJ DiResta from Mahopac is a pre-season All American HS UnderArmour player..playing in an invite only tournament in Arizona this weekend. As good if not better than most kids on the above list.

  6. Under Armour

I know a ton of kids that got invited to this…$3,000 and no scouts because of a dead period for recruiting.

Not to take anything away from the kid, because I’ve seen him play and he is a good ballplayer. But that is not an All-American team that is Under Armour cashing in.

  7. relax here

who are the top teams for the upcoming season…heard jjcr should be real good this year…

  8. Frank "the tank" yurcan

I heard Dover is the team to beat this year, they have this kid chris demayo, supposedly hes a ringer from south carolina who tops at about 92 mph….from his knees.

  9. sn13rrrrrrr

    ADAMI will ADMINATE

  10. HVDAD

Virtually all the players listed above are exceptional players. Simply a word of caution about Perfect Game lists. They do tend to focus in on those players that have participated in Perfect game tournaments and especially on players that have attended Perfect game showcases.that is most highly regarded area players but not neccessarily all.

  11. lohud

Yeah, not taking anything away from Perfect Game or anyting but the lists are sort of a joke. It all depends on how many showcases you’ve done and whatnot. I looked at someone’s profile one time that was ranked in the top 100 for the junior class. His stats were nothing great but he did 10 showcases. So by giving them $5000 they are almost forced to put him on the list. Also all Bayside Yankee players are not obviously going to be on any lists..considering that Cuesta is on bad terms with them. Bayside is not allowed in in PG tourneys for the past 3 years

  12. Taconic Rangers

are also banned from Perfect Game Tournaments

  13. lohud

what happend with Taconic? Last time I saw they were in PG tourneys in the 07 season…

  14. Know the Rangers

The Taconic Rangers 18U are not banned from PG. They will be participating in at least 5 tournaments this year, including PG and Blue Chip in Baseball Heaven in June and the 17U and 18U PG National Championships in Marietta in July. They have a very aggressive schedule this summer and should be followed by many college/pro scouts due to the quality of players they have on their roster that will be graduating in 2009.

  15. Fact

The Taconic Rangers were banned this past October 2007 from participating in The Perfect Game World Championships held in Jupiter Florida. This left several of their players out in the cold and left scurrying to find teams to play on. In the most highly scouted tournament of the year this organization did a huge disservice to their kids.

  16. Know the Rangers

Anyone interested in following the Rangers this summer, all info will be posted on their website http://www.taconicrangers.com in the next few months.

Please do not believe everything you read in these blogs. People have their own personal agendas and enjoy trashing kids and organizations (it must make them feel better about themselves or their own kids)....Totally NOT COOL!!

  17. Ranger Player

It’s true about Jupiter. We got banned from the tournament. I hooked up with another team. Wasn’t the same experience.

  18. nybb

VINNY FERRARO FROM FOX LANE,PLAYS FOR THE BAYSIDE YANKEES,

  19. JJCR?

jjcr is going to be ridiculous i hear this year

  20. Scout

Taconic Rangers were not banned from the Jupiter Tournament. Mr Fletcher would have loved to bring his team down to Jupiter. Taconic not being there was by no fault of their own. They did not qualify… As a relatively new program (they have only competed in PG events for 2 years), they were required to play in a qualifier held in LI. Some of the other teams from our area that did play in Jupiter, College Select, Team CT, South Troy Dodgers are grandfathered in having played in the event from it’s inception.
From what I know, Taconic will be in East Cobb along with NY Nine, World Yacht Clippers,Team Ct, CT Blue Jays and I’m sure a few more.
V Ferraro is with Bayside and will be on their National Team (B). Bayside is the only team from the NE that is BANNED from PG events. This due to a disagreement between PG abd Mr Cuseta. Both have gone seperate ways.
As far as the PG rankings, they do take input on players not at their events from scouts however, if they don’t have information on a player, they cannot rank him. Only makes sense. They do however scout MANY non-pg events. Some are Selectfest, East Coast Pro, Area Code Games. If they get information on a player they have never seen, that player will get invites to their events. If they choose not to attend, then don’t look for a ranking from them sight unseen. This does not mean the player is NOT a good player or one of the top players in his area. This player still could get drafted or receive a scholarship. His chances are less then someone who has been at some of these events.

  21. HVDAD

If I’m correct, and it’s total conjecture on my part, but I do know that The Taconic Rangers played in the semi final (in L.I.) of the Northeast qualifier for Jupiter and won a terrific semi final game. The finals were scheduled for a Monday and Taconic opted not to play in the finals supposedly because Monday was a school day (priorities). They are a fine organization with a great group of players! I say, people shouldn’t make statements unless they know all the facts.

  22. Know The Rangers

Scout and HVDad are both correct regarding the Taconic Rangers. After they beat College Select in the semifinals of the NorthEast Qualifier for Jupiter, the Ranger parents along with Coach Fletcher felt it was best for the players to attend school on Monday and not a baseball tournament. (there were several other teams that made the same decision and did not return on Monday). Most of the players are Juniors this year and this is a huge year for them academically. Missing a Monday of school in September for a baseball tournament doesn’t put the priorities in order for what the organization is trying to accomplish. PG should not have to ask players to be truant from school to finish out a tournament. Thanks for setting the record straight!!!!

  23. nybb

scout, how do you know what team a player will be on ??

  24. Scout

Spoke to the horse, it came from the horses mouth. Was going over the PG list and asked Mr Cuseta who he had this summer. Very good program Bayside lots of college freshman and top college recruits .

  25. The Battle of the Border 18u

We have a date for this years Tournament which will be played on June 26th-29th. We already have 8 teams and we are going to max out at 12 teams. If there are any High quality 18u teams looking to enter contact us at this link.We will have some of the top teams in the area and it is not for the average summer team.

  26. mamaroneck?

I heard that Mamaroneck will be even better then last year. They once again be the team to beat in section 1

  27. LHV FAN

The idea that Vinny Ferraro could be on some list of top players is a joke. I’ve seen him play over the summer and he’s a no talent if ever there was one. How he gets publicity is the telltale sign of how absurd the reporting is on some of the players in northern Westchester.

  28. nybb

LVH TO BASH ANY PLAYER SHOWS THAT THEY SHOULD PUT YOU AT THE LIST OF NO CLASS, AS FOR VINNNY AND THE REST OF THE PLAYERS ON ANY LIST ,THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING BB AND HAVE BEEN ALL OVER FROM NY TO TEXAS FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS WORKING OVER THE WINTER ,AND HE IS GOING ON TO PLAY COLLAGE BB ,TALENT IS THE FACT THAT HE IS A 17 YEAR OLD KID THAT HAS MADE HIMSELF INTO A FINE YOUNG MAN ,

  29. oberver

I never seen Ferraro play, but his numbers at perfect game are not that good. his 60 is slow(7.68) and his arm strength is poor(73 mph infield, pitching 80 mph) and thats the last time he went so he had to be 17.

  30. mike

watch out for pelham this year

  31. fuck this blog

Dan Diaz, Nanuet, infielder: Eyes turned to the junior shortstop/pitcher after his 17-strikeout virtuoso on May 2. His next start was a no-hitter, followed by a two-hit shutout. Using a biting slider and upper 80s fastball, he went 7-1 with a 2.10 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 46.2 innings. Over the last month he batted .550 to raise his season average to .446. His 1.258 OPS was No. 3 in the county; his ERA was No. 4. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Steve Putnick, Pearl River, utility: The graduations of Sean Giblin, Ian Reese, and Jeff Allison left Putnick, a pitcher/third baseman, as Pearl River’s one returning star. The Pirates were 6-3 in his starts; 6-9 otherwise. The senior, who will walk on at Marist, threw more innings than anyone in Rockland except Aviles. He was a table-setter in the 3-hole, reaching base nearly half the time. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Adonis Germosen, East Ramapo, infielder: The Titan bats didn’t hit like they were supposed to, with one exception. Germosen, a senior catcher, belted homers in three straight games before April was even half over ‹ the last of which Carmel coach Bob Shilling called the farthest he’s ever seen at his home field. He hit a county-high six while scoring 24 runs and driving in 20, earning a late roster spot at St. Thomas Aquinas. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Bill Smith, Nanuet, outfielder: The senior provided the legs in Nanuet’s multi-pronged attack. He swiped a base in 13 different games and led the county with 16 steals overall. Part of that was opportunity ‹ he hit over.400 with a .479 on-base percentage. Because of all his mischief on the basepaths, he scored 25 runs, third-best in Rockland. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Ron Gamma, Suffern, coach of the year: After suffering a disheartening 16-0 loss on opening day, it became a wire-to-wire season for the Mounties, who quickly established themselves as the top team in Rockland and proved it by making the Class AA sectional final. Other coaches were most impressed that Gamma negotiated his way through 12 League I-B games without a loss. He knew when to step in and when to cede decisions to his pitching coach. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Jordan Kolinsky, Clarkstown South, infielder: When the senior was shelved with an ankle injury in mid-May, Clarkstown South tumbled. The Vikings went 0-7 with their pitcher/first baseman first sidelined and then hobbled. Despite the handicap, Kolinsky managed to bat .414 with 28 RBI. As a pitcher he was carefully confusing, never throwing the same speed twice in the same at-bat. His 1.78 ERA ranked No. 2 in the county. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Jim Brennan, Suffern, outfielder: Potential had exceeded production for the center fielder. Until his junior year, when he exploded for a .467 average ‹ 200 points better than last year ‹ with a county-leading 34 runs, 10 doubles and nearly .900 slugging percentage, with 25 RBI from the leadoff spot. As Suffern’s third starter he went 5-1, including a masterful playoff performance at John Jay. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
Nick Viohl, North Rockland, pitcher: North Rockland leaned heavily on senior pitchers Fasano and Viohl. Viohl delivered with a 1.67 ERA, lowest in Rockland County and eighth-lowest in the section among those with at least 30 innings. He allowed only 26 hits in 46 innings, an incredible ratio. ( Angela Gaul / The Journal News )
Tyler Rorick, Tappan Zee, outfielder: Tappan Zee’s season was almost dead when Rorick pitched the Dutchmen to a 3-1 victory over Pearl River that revived their hopes. As they were winning 12 of 16 he hit in every game. He batted .500 over that stretch and .422 for the year. Without the senior’s clutch stick and arm, Tappan Zee would have folded. ( Angela Gaul / The Journal News )
Joe Ferrara, Clarkstown North, utility: With Chris O’Grady out, the toughest pitching assignments fell to the senior. Even when used in relief, it was in crucial situations, allowing him to pick up decisions in 10 of 11 appearances. As a hitter he was an on-base machine (19 walks) because of a keen eye for pitches. He’ll join Germosen and Wargo at St. Thomas Aquinas. ( Angela Gaul / The Journal News )
George Wargo, North Rockland, infielder: The preseason began with the senior in a battle to be the starting catcher. Coach Tom Lynch has to be happy with his choice after Wargo threw out 60 percent of baserunners. He thrived behind the plate, delivering a .403 average ‹ 100 points higher than last year ‹ to provide rare consistency in North Rockland’s order. ( Peter Carr / The Journal News )
