More on Hagan

I forgot to mention yesterday, but Sean Hagan has already started to attract serious Division I attention, which tends to happen when you’re 6-5 and throw 90.
Hagan has exchanged e-mails with several major programs. The coach from Michigan called Mike Chiapparelli, and Hagan has unofficials to UConn and St. John’s.
Chiapparelli also told me there’s been interest from Duke, USC and UCLA. … Wow, those schools are no joke, huh?

Speaking of top colleges. What happened to Dobbs Ferry player Derek Diguglielmo at Georgetown? He is no longer on the roster there after playing his freshman year there.
Hagan is so overrated..He throws 84..look at all his PG..90 my ass Josh..stop sucking him you dont know anything. Hes good he an’t that good!
tk…Relax. I know I don’t know anything, but I also know I’m not the one recruiting him. I’m just reporting what I’m told, thanks.
Congrats Sean and good luck. Keep working hard.
tk- Your blog would seem to fit better on the Ice Hockey forum and not on Baseball.
Congratulations Sean. No one else that you play against questions your talent. The sky is the limit !
I worked the plate last year for Hagen, Giblin, Ferrer, Henry, and Lucas. Hagen by far has the best upside. He has the most potential of any pitcher that I have seen in my 24 years as an umpire. He has the potential to be a VERY high draft pick.
Ive played with and against Sean and I’ve never seen him pitch a bad game. He lives in the mid 80s and pops upper 80s and no one seems to ever hit him. Whoever is detracting from him or whatever on this blog, I’m sorry that you or your son is not as talented of a kid as Sean and you are jealous about it so you decide to make a fool of yourself on a blog
also a hell of a kid, very personable and friendly to all
HAGAN IS A STANDOUT ,BUT WHAT IS ALSO A GREAT PIC IS A TOP PLAYER TIM PANETTA WHO WILL BE ON ALOT OF D1 LISTS
If he’s not on D1 lists by now it’s not going to happen. I know he is.
Tim needs to work ALOT on his defense if he even wants to be a catcher. He can hit with them all. It will be interesting to see how he does with no hitters around him in the FL line-up. He was very well protected last year.
HS Guy…let’s try to say positive things about kids on this blog. Panetta was good enough to beat out at least 25 catchers when trying out for the Empire State Games and he’s ONLY a junior and he played awesome in the tournament both on defense and offense. All of these top kids work really hard and should be commended for their effort. You are either a jealous parent, kid, or a Fox Lane hater.
HSG PANETTA IS THE STARTING CATCHER FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS,FOR BAYSIDE YANKEES S/AM 18U TEAM AND THIS PAST FALL HE HIT OVER 450 AND HE CAN BLOCK AND HAS PLUS ARM,GO TO THERE WEB SITE AND LOOK AT SOME OF THE TEAMS THEY PLAYED,AND HE CAN RUN ,AND TO SAY FOX LANE HAS NO HITTING THIS YEAR ????
Guys, maybe you missunderstood what I wrote or I wasn’t clear enough. I stated that “I know he is” meaning that if as stated above “he will be” I wrote I know he is on lists. I have spoken to people. He is one of the best hitters in the area. I am neither of the above that you asked about and Coach Hillis is a good friend. I was actually trying to come to his defense.
NYBB you are obviously a Bayside Yankke parent and a FL parent.
There is no question that he is one of the TOP hitters in the area. I have seen him play. FL lost a lot of their top players last season and basically Vinny is really going to have to produce to protect Tim…
This was no knock on him as a player it was just the reality of a hs team when they graduate top players. Not many schools can do it year after year.
How good will Mahopac’s pitching staff be???? 2 SR’s that can throw and the jr Iuni who could be better then thr sr’s..
I think Iuni is only a sophomore but you are right, he could be one of the best pitchers in the section this year and no one knows about him…yet. Mahopac will be very good this year IF they can replace the senior leadership from last years bunch. They will not sneak up on anyone.
Fox Lane will have one of the top pitching staff’s around with two top notch starters in Pitasi and Giordano. As far as hitting, there is plenty left and even if there wasnt Coach Hillis would make good hitters
Pitching ERA IPERRHBBKHBStWLW%
Season Totals:1.32926.1561614392431.750
These numbers are sick!! THis kid will be the best pitcher in Westchester next year hands down. Remember the name Stephen Green and go watch him pitch now so when he is in the pro’s u can say you saw him play at the HS level. He ptiched in 8 games and in 5 of those he gave up 0 runs. In the other game he got hit and gave up 4 runs. His last outing was only the first round playoff where he pitched 7 innings gave up 1 run and struck out 8 while picking up the win. He was only a freshman last year. So you will have 3 more years of watching.
Steven Green > Sean Hagan…faced him he’s nasty especially at 5’10 throwing 88
Green is a good pitcher, but still very hittable, beat us but we had alot of good swings on him, let see how he makes adjustments to his style, will have to do that to win, throwing 88 is easy to hit
That is great you had a lot of good swings against him. Remember foul balls don’t count as good swings. Or maybe when you struck out you had a good swing. He did by the way stikeout 1.5 batters per inning pitched. Last I checked when you have a 1.32 ERA it is the batter that needs to make the adjustments not the pitcher. Remember he was only a freshman last year and he will put on more weight and get stronger. 88mph was last years numbers I think that will only improved with time. Two predictions his ERA will be under 1 this year to lead all of westchester and will make it to the PRO’s one day.
Bold predictions, good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
Green beat two AA schools Scarsdale 2-1 and Poughkeepsie, their combined records were 15-31, when he starts beating good teams then you can make predictions, he is a good pitcher but not as good as you feel with your heart
While I feel that Hagan is (right now) more polished and dominating than Greene, your argument is not very valid hey Paul.
The kid was a freshman in high school. As a lefty throwing 88 mph (justified I’ve seen it don’t try to say he doesn’t throw that hard) with good stuff, he certainly is something special. In comparing the two, they have similar stuff. I feel, however, that Hagan has 1. a much better opportunity to dominate a game because he has more explosive stuff and 2. a more promising future because of the height differential.
I’ve seen the two pitch in a very competitive environment with each other. Hagan was more commanding and the opponents struggled to make consistent contact. Greene was very tough and persistent and the opponent struggled to get into a rhythm (for example, I believe in 3 consecutive innings there were leadoff singles then Greene got the batter to roll into a double play).
Each pitcher has their own qualities that makes them very good respectively. But it is very hard to compare a 6’5” 16 year old to a 5’10” 15 year old no matter how similar their numbers are.
TO HEY PAUL- LETS BE FAIR SCARSDALE WAS 13-12 AND A FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF GAME. THE GAME BEFORE HE SHUT OUT BREWSTER WHO WERE A QUALITY TEAM AT 17-9 AND I THINK LOST IN THE SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
PITCHERS- LET’S MAKE IT CLEAR I AM NOT SAYING THIS HAGAN IS NOT A STUD, HE CLEARLY IS. I AM JUST MAKING MY CASE THAT GREEN NEEDS TO BE IN THE SAME BALLPARK AS HAGAN. LOOK GREEN IS MOST LIKELY NEVER GOING TO SEE 6’5 BUT I DO BELIEVE HE IS 6’1 AND THE FACT THAT HE IS A LEFTY MAKES HIM TOUGH. LAST YEAR WAS THE FIRST YEAR HE STARTED TO THROW CURVES SO I THINK AS HE MASTERS THAT PITCH HE WILL ONLY GET BETTER WITH TIME.
Hagan played with us and we played against Green. Both are excellent HS pitchers with still a long way to go in reaching their full potential.
Right now the major differential is exeperience with Hagan having a huge edge at this time
I know who is recruiting Sean because all them have talked with me with regard to him and they are all major D-1 programs. He is also drawing a load of pro interest.
I would give my right arm to have both Hagan and Green on our staff.
Continued success to both of these fine young men
i am sick of this, ucla and usc are not coming to the east coast to see this kid…THat is false to the extreme, i am a product of the east coast, westchester county, small recruit that is in california playing baseball. You guys are a joke your program sucks in the east coast and to throw 90 and get picked up in the draft high, yeah right..i don’t care what you say because you don’t know anything, o and i played with panetta which by the way is pretty good, he is a legit player playing on a legit team called bayside yankees, hagan i never heard of so i am sorry this is a joke, he might throw 90 and stay at a school on the east coast that is about it, he is not going to the west coast they aren’t comin across the country for him. sorry but this article is a joke
