Another day of notebooks has arrived, so here’s what we have to read on this day of rest:
— NORTHERN WESTCHESTER/PUTNAM: Katonah’s Dean Dignelli, a senior at the Forman School in Conn., committed to Iona, joining Anthony Castellitto, C.J. Riefenhauser and Eric Capowski as local guys hoping to help rebuild the struggling Gaels. Also, I have a note about the gaudy numbers posted by Carmel’s Zack Graczyk and John Kiechle. (Note: I had written this before a reader complained about the lack of attention afforded to Kiechle, but now it probably won’t look like it.)
— CENTRAL WESTCHESTER: Two-time defending Class B champ Hastings has been coming along nicely after losing all its key players outside of senior CF Seth Snyder and sophomore RHP Ryan Blicker. Not only have Snyder and Blicker led the lineup and staff, respectively, their teammates have continued to grow.
— SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER: With just two losses, Tuckahoe has already exceeded John D’Arco’s expectations. The Tigers currently sit behind Valhalla and Keio in the Class C pecking order, but they have the talent to challenge for a title by season’s end. Also, I have a note about Eastchester SS David Perlieshi, who committed to play ball at Dominican.
— ROCKLAND: Tappan Zee has been suddenly more formidable, thanks to the return of Johnny Wong and Chris Kiernan from suspension. Jake also mentions the nearly-flawless pitching performances of Robbie Avilas of Suffern and Dan Diaz of Nanuet.
Other links…
— SATURDAY’S RESULTS: There were a lot of winners, but no one was more impressive than Clarkstown South, which beat powerful Regis and James Monroe and has now won 11 in a row.
— VIDEO: There are a few to chose from, and you can find them all here. Mamaroneck-Don Bosco features some action of Steve Proscia, and a nice look at Mike Rosenfeld’s first-inning double. It also should give those who weren’t there a good idea at the power and athleticism of Bosco winner Mike Dennhardt. … There’s also footage from the Siegriest tourney at Nyack. Jake caught that ballgame, and here’s his story about Hen Hud’s win in the final and new Nyack coach Erik Lazerus’ attempt at honoring Siegriest, a great man he never knew.
With key action running through the weekend (Mamaroneck, Clarkstown South, etc.) the Top 10 will be delayed until tomorrow morning. I think the Vikings will use the opportunity to continue to state their case. They’ve already had an incredible week so far.

He is socking money away under his mattress to buy the Knicks, at which time he will trade Jerome James to Cleveland for a ham sandwich.

With all due respect, after watching Clarkstown South win the tournament they host, I believe they have jettisoned themselves into the top 5 of the power rankings.. They knocked of Regis (currently 1st place in the BX/MHT division of the CHSAA), James Monroe ( a team that seems to play for the PSAL championship every year)and Guilderland,(defending Section 2 champions, currently ranked 10th in NYS), all in less than a day and half…Very impressive performance, and one that should be recognized in my opinion..
Im pulling for Tuckahoe for C. They have a good group of kids..
South definetly finally derserves recognition. I was at the tournament and it was amazing how all the kids on the team rooted for each other and got along. They really believed all the long they would win even though if it had gone into extra innings they were out of pitchers. Another amazing thing is that they won in the bottom of the 7th with the bottom of the lineup batting.
im looking for hastings to do well down the road, they got some pretty easy league games this week which i think they can beat irvington and sleepy and get on top in the league and hopefully maintain that spot, but pearl river is right on them in the league. Hastings i think will compete for section down the road..however they must get runners in when the bases are loaded thats theyre huge problem. But Hastings and Nanuet next week will be a big game for both teams im looking forward to watching it.
