Win streaks end

May
14

Pelham’s loss to Ardsley last night marked the death of the section’s longest win streak. The Pelicans had fired off 15 in a row after dropping the opener to Kennedy. The loss should have made Clarkstown South officially the hottest club around. Except the Vikings had just seen their own streak stopped at 12 the day before at the hands of Robbie Aviles and Suffern.

With those two falling on back to back days, only John Jay can claim a run that reaches double figures. The Indians won their 11th straight and have now easily gone the longest without a loss. The one loss was to Stepinac, 10-9. Second is, of all teams, Eastchester, which was left for dead at 1-8 but has clawed back to .500 with seven straight.

Any other teams heating up but still flying under the radar?

Baseball guy…Good catch. Even though I've been on Kennedy's bandwagon I felt like the Westlake loss was more recent. Nope, it was actually a month ago. With Kennedy playing 20 games already, it's put together a 12-gamer (11 before tonight). So it and John Jay share the area lead.

Funny thing is, either could end tonight. Both are playing capable, talented league opponents—Nanuet for Kennedy; Somers for John Jay—that would love to knock off the block bully.

  4. eastchester

    8 in a row

It seems like Dom Cecere has righted the ship at
Eastcheter winning 8 in a row! If he doesen't get into
the sectionals it will be a tough pill to swallow,
especially with 3 of his players going onto to play college ball. If Eastchester gets in watch out!

  6. stats ?

8 in a row vs. teams with a combined record of 53-67

It's not who starts the race it's who finishes it!
Baseball around the entire county is weak so to base your
comment on overall records is poor. They just swept Rye
and play today! You can hear the foot steps!

  8. stats ?

    John,
I don't disagree at all but to talk about win streaks and not qualify it by the competition you have played is selective statistics and says little about the quality of your team.
