LIVE UPDATES: Ballgame — Carmel salvages a game, winning 8-5. Zack Graczyk threw a lot of pitches, but he gutted through seven innings.
On offense it was an excellent performance by John Kiechle (above), who had four hits and four RBI. He hit an inside the park homer to score the Rams last run.
The win snaps Carmel’s five game losing streak. Mahopac, on the other hand, will be fine. The Indians have the Tantalos tournament up next. They play John Jay on Saturday around 11.
Top of the fifth — Carmel now leads 7-3. The Rams went up 3-1 before Mahopac slugger Pete DiResta hit a two run inside the park home run.
So with the score tied, Carmel had a much needed four run inning in the fourth. Frank Nagel,
Kiechle, Graczyk and Mike Volpe each knocked in a run consecutively.
Middle of the 3rd — Carmel is in Mahopac trying to avoid the sweep, and we have Luke Giumarro vs. Zack Graczyk. The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI groundout by Anthony Pagliuca. The ball was a potential inning ending double play ball to SS but it was booted by Jeremy Lovera. Graczyk (right) had runners at first and third but he got a strikeout to end the threat.
The Rams just took a 2-1 lead on a two run double to LCF by John Kiechle. They sorely needed that hit and it came as no surprise that Kiechle got it.

Did they play the whole game?
diresta is a man playing amongst boys,if he had a homerun fence he would be deadly thats if teams are not to scared to pitch to him. mahopac has good pitching but i think they lack any protection for diresta in the middle of the lineup. hope teams have the balls to pitch to this kid….
yes, they played a whole game. Carmel won 8-3
Iona Prep lost to Salesian? How the heck did that happen?
I can tell you how Iona lost to Salesian. They saved their ace for Stepinac yesterday, and lost, and burned all of their next best pitchers on Staten Island on Tuesday, and lost…This is what happens when you think you can beat a team with one hand tied behind your back….More credit to Salesian. They have lost a lot of close games and are better than their record indicates.
How is the Iona catcher doing? At the beginning of the season someone was touting him as the best catcher in the section. Better than Panetta, Filauro and Corona. I haven't heard much about him.
