New poll: Which team has the best chance to knock off Kennedy in Class B?

April
30

So unbeaten Kennedy is probably the champion with the best chance to match last year’s Section 1 title. I know many of you agree with that. But which team out there has the best shot at unseating the mighty Gaels?

Vote away and let us know what you think. I voted for Rye Neck because it has the type of pitcher it takes (Ryan Pennell) to control Kennedy’s lineup.

  1. lets think about that one...

hmm lets think about this one….is nobody an option???

  2. best chance

ryeneck, throw pennell and score the usual five runs and its a wrap

  3. bob

I think nobody should be an option

  4. insider

    no chances

  5. ronald jeremy

yea josh you def have to add ” nobody” as one of the options to the poll

  6. HSBASEBALLFAN

How about Iona? Or any one of the other Catholic schools which Kennedy should be playing anyway?

  7. T.J.

RN is interesting, they did beat Kennedy a few years ago in the Sectional Tourny so the two have history, anything can happen in one game

  8. baseball guy

HSBASEBALLFAN must be either a dad or a player of one of the teams that have no shot against kennedy

  9. another

WOW that was a good bit of crying there. Did you forget that JFK beat Iona last year when they were good and also beat St Raymonds. This year they have already beat Albertus and play Mount st Michael and St Rays coming up.

Now go back and ask mommy how to hold the bat !!

  10. fan

Rye Neck or Nanuet…throw Pennell or Diaz and i think it will be a close game..Hastings has a very good chance too with the hitting that they have….Albertus lost to Pearl River and just beat Sleepy they should not be on the list at all..Dont know much about Dobbs or Briarcliff

  11. ?

first off “another” albertus isnt in the catholic league theyre in the public league. and they just got some revenge on pearl today

  12. kenton bidwell

josh, wheres the “new poll:which team has the best chance to knock off mamaroneck in class aa?” it seems alot of people maybe including josh are rooting for kennedys demise

  13. Josh Thomson

kenton…Sorry, dude. That’s absurd. Nice allegation, though.

  14. Class B

I think a player you dont hear much about is Alex Basso, a junior at Put Valley, if he gives PV a solid outing he could have a shot at beating JFK. Basso has a plus fastball with a pretty good curve to go along. I wouldnt say hes the favorite to knock off JFK but i certainly think he could do the job.

  15. Panther

I think it is very foolish to have such a poll. Let Kennedy and all of its opponents continue their seasons without such a challenge. Why should we root for teams to lose? And what if the team with the best chance doesn’t do it? Let the games be played without such a foolish poll.

  16. Vincent Chase

Hastings has the best shot. With Ryan Blicker on the mound they can beat anyone. they hit really well also

  17. deecavvers

if carmel was an option i’d pick them

  18. the real vinny chase

who has hastings played to show that theyre up to the challenge of knocking off the goliath that is kennedy?

  19. First Base

Hastings beat Briarcliff, Nanuet, Pelham, Putnum Valley.
this is baseball.. any given day goliath can fall

  20. another

No one said Albertus was in the CHSAA. It was just noted that they are another Kennedy victim and happen to be a CATHOLIC school like Kennedy. Very similar schools and travels the pragrams have gone thru. Both have been bad for years and have just recently risen up.

Kennedy may stumble and lose a game along the way but they will be a tough challange to take down in the long haul. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day. You just have to hope it’s your day.

  21. baseball guy

first base- the only good team you mentioned is nanuet and didnt they lose to nanuet? Pelham got romped by kennedy 21-4, briarcliff lost to croton who kennedy beat twice by a combined score of 34-2 and put valley is something like 2-7

  22. ?

lets get real here. albertus held kennedy to 7 runs. they have the best shot

  23. CF

So what that doesn’t mean albertus can beat them, lets get real in the playoffs when it means the most even when albertus throws their ace you wont think that kennedy wont hit when it matters the most?? big deal so kennedy didnt blow albertus out of the water but albertus still did not score any runs, so therefore they have the best shot of beating them?
I dont think albertus should be in discussion here. They fought hard against Kennedy and are having a fairly good season, however they are getting blown up a little much latley. Rye Neck and Hastings have the best chance with Pennell and Blicker both of those pitchers can potentially hold kennedy down a bit.

  24. CF

No sir…just beacuse they held kennedy to 7 runs does not mean they have the best chance by any means. Just because Kennedy didn’t blow magnus out of the water like every other team they did doesnt mean they have the best chance. Hello, Pennel Rye Neck?? Blicker Hastings? or maybe even Sacks from B-Cliff, some top pitchers in Class B that can hold kennedy. I would say Hastings and Rye Neck have the best chance to take down Kennedy

  25. Albertus#1fan

Falcons were 0-0 into the 5th. We more than held our own against an excellent Kennedy team. In addition like ? said, we held them to only 7 runs. This doesn’t equate to a win, but it showed that we can play with the best. Its baseball, anything happens, so if we had another shot at em, anything can happen. So to the corn holer “fan” put those facts in your bunghole and smoke it KKKKKKAAAABBBBBBOOOOM!!!!

P.S. The Falcon win today puts them into the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. Great job players and coaches!

  26. class B

when albertus plays Hasting and Nanuet we will see where they stand if the truly are a contender in Class B.

  27. Michael Phelps

Hastings has the best chance of beating Kennedy. If Hastings throws Ryan Blicker on the mound they can beat anyone. Blicker is 4-0 and has pithced 2 shutouts already. Along with their pitching, their hitting and fielding is extremly consistent and they work the count a lot. They play small ball and steal bases and don’t make errors. This fundemential way of playing along with Blicker on the hill, Hastings can beat anyone.

  28. Albertus#1fan

    Dear Poopchute Phelps:

On May 2nd the Mighty Albertus Magnus Falcons defeated Hastings in extra innings. It was an excellent all around game. I know it is a sad sad day in the Phelps basement. But don’t get crazy, just relax, wear your tight speedo and take your seatless bike for a ride. It will make you feel much better. But before you do that, go to I tunes and download the song:

Let me get that KKKABBBBOOOOM BOOOM BOOOM Let me get that KAAABOOOM BBOOOM BBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

    Love,
    Albertus#1fan

P.S. Falcon Nation fly high!!!! We are ALBERTUS!!!!!

  29. stop

    its going to be alright

  30. homerun

Yes! Albertus#1fan in full effect! Makes these blogs worth reading! Congrats on a great win Falcons. By the stop..you sound silly. Magnus won the game head to head this is what matters today.

  31. baseball guy

could you imagine how nuts all these haters would go if it was an all catholic sectional final?

  32. triple

    Homerun…

it counts the most in the playoffs

  33. Vincent Chase

Hastings is nice, Everytime Blicker has pitched they have won. Pitch Blicker against Kennedy and let Hastings take its third sectional crowd in four years

  34. Albertus#1fan

Awww big Vinny I guess in your world Blicker can pitch every game huh? Ok so no losses count against Hastings record, because Blicker didn’t pitch. Journal News please make Hastings undefeated!

Vinny you are nothing more than a bozo. How about you go grab your butt buddy Michael P, hit inspiration point and reminice about your wild Friday night leather chap parties..KKKKABBBBBOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!!!
