Any Scores?
Dobbs is trailing 3-0. Westhill hit a three run homer in the first. Ironically, Westhill hit a three run homer in the seventh just to reach the final. The game just went into the top of the third.
Mamaroneck game will start around 4:50.
did mamaroneck start yet?
We are underway here at NYSEG Stadium. Mamaroneck is batting. Gabe Klein just hit a ground ball to second but reached on an error.
It appears that Andrew Benkwitt will start – not Sean Hagan.
Thanks for update! Go Tigers!
Mamaroneck leads 3-0 with one out in the first. Klein was caught stealing and Taylor Mondshein singled. Matt McGovern bunted for a base hit. The pitcher threw the ball away and it rolled along the wall in foul territory for a two base error. Mondshein scored. Mike Rosenfeld tripled him home and scored on a wild pitch.
MHS is going to WIN!!!!
3-0 bottom of the first. I was wrong before. Eric Windsor is pitching.
GO MAMARONECK!!
Whats the deal with the dobbs score??
Four up, three down for Windsor, who allowed just a two out single.
Dobbs now trails 7-0 after 4. Westhill has belted 12 hits.
Scott Hagan had a one out triple that was somewhat misplayed by the right fielder. The younger Hagan later scored on a squeeze by Klein. 4-0 Mamaroneck, bottom 2.
any new updates? Go TIGERS!!!!
Clarence scores one in the second on Hagan’s second throwing error of the day. After a pair of singles to lead off, Windsor got the first out on a strikeout. Hagan then speared a grounder and stepped on first, then tried to throw out the runner at second but the ball bounced away, allowing the runner to score from third. 4-1 after 2.
Dobbs still trails 7-0 in the fifth.
Please continue to post updates of the Dobbs game, even though it’s not looking good.
Greg Steinfeld doubles and scores for Dobbs, which trails 7-1 in the middle of the fifth.
whos pitchin for dobbs
Steinfeld is now pitching for Dobbs in the fifth. He is in for LaFaye.
Mamaroneck is now up 6-1. Sean Hagan bunted two runners up a base and Luke Glaser followed through with a two run single. Two runners are still on in the third.
Christian Glaser just singled in his brother. 7-1 Mamaroneck. Clarence just changed pitchers.
YAY Mamaroneck! Keep it up!
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
updates?
we need an update!
Neither team scored in its last AB. Mamaroneck leads 7-1 going into the bottom of the fourth.
Dobbs still trails 7-1.
Thanks, Josh!
Dobbs is down 8-1 heading to the seventh. It needs quite the rally.
Windsor just allowed a run in the fourth to cut it to 7-2. There was some confusion on a wind blown fly ball to right center and it dropped in for a double. The runner came home on a two out single to center.
Mamaroneck stranded two and still leads 7-2. Its now the bottom of the fifth. Hagan warmed up before but Windsor is still pitching.
Dobbs Ferry falls 8-1. Not to downplay what was obviously a disappointing loss but it was an incredible season for the Eagles. I don’t think many of us could envision a trip to the state final.
Update please!
Great season Eagles!
Any changes in the score for Mamaroneck?
McGovern just hit a solo homer out of the stadium to make it 8-2. The ball carried the billboards in right and drilled a shed in the parking lot.
Mamaroneck update, pleaseeeee!!!
Wow! Awesome, Matt!
Yes Matt. Keep it up Tigers!!!!
its lookin like another parade
anyone know the score
new Updates? Go tigers!!
Inning?? Score update?
Is it still 8-2?
We are in the seventh and Mamaroneck leads 8-2.Windsor has been outstanding pitching with a lead. He has thrown strikes, plain and simple. Mamaroneck has three more outs to go.
In what innining is the Mamaroneck game?
update, please
Come on Eric!!!

This is taking tooooooo long. What is happening?
12-2 top of seventh!
The best coach I know. The kids in a class by themselves.
He’s probably taking interviews for the post-game article.
WOOT WOOT!!!
what is the score.
Thanks JV MOM!
Chap is putting in pinch hiters, letting everyone have a turn at bat in Championship Game.
JV Mom,
How did you hear that?
game over?
Husband and son at game.
That is why you gotta love Mike. Class act!!!
Keep us posted JV MOM
Game not over. This is what Chap is doing. Andy Sickles, Dean Chap had turns.
Long extended rally here for Mamaroneck in the top of the seventh. Pinch hitters Dean Chiapparelli, Matt Levinson and Richie MacDonald all had RBI singles. Mike Rosenfeld added a sac fly. Its now 12-2. Going to the bottom of the seventh.
Great Job Mamaroneck. Congratulations to Coach Chap and all the players. Great Coaching + Dedicated athletes=Success.
2 years in a row.
Go Tigers!!!!
Kids not normally up getting a chance—vintage Chap.
Almost there!!!
as of a minute ago 12-2 mamk, top 7, 2 outs
Yeah Dean. Yes it is vintage chap.
in a state championship nonetheless
Thanks 2010
Best coach I know.
chap great job getting your sophomore jv son at bats while seniors sit. class act alright.
No, some kids were moved up to Varsity several weeks ago to get experience. He does that every year.
Just like the Hockey team. Dean got a lot of PT in the state final
That’s mean-spirited. He’s a very good baseball player.
He got a RBI not bad for a sophomore!
100% agreed, Steve M! Let the seniors play! Their last chance! ugh!
Mamaroneck wins 12-2. First back to back state champs from Westchester in 21 years.
its over, mamk goes two in a row!
How many Seniors on the bench?
Anyway, who says they’re not playing? Josh only listed who got hits.
WOOT WOOT!!! Yes. Congrats Mamaroneck!!!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BACK TO BACK!!
If your not there you don’t know. I’m sure the seniors got in.
What are you people complaining about. Chap is the best coach around and he Mamaroneck just won it’s 2nd championship in a row. So he gave some younger guys at bats. Give me a break. Stop your whinning.
Congrats again to Chap and all the players.
Way to go Tigers. Up until the final, the last three games
have been nail-biters. McGovern for MVP. Hands down.
Great job Tigers. Big credit to Chap. Best coach i have ever seen. He takes the tigers to the hockey and baseball state finals, in the same school year. Great Win!!!!
Agreed with Curveball. McGov is MVP
WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
AGREED!!!! Congrats Mike.
I’m sure Chap played everyone, folks!
Cool those jets, you’re not coaching. Chill, all.
Congratulations, Tigers & Chap! Awesome job!!
Congrats 09 Seniors. Hagan, Glaser twins, McGov, Andrew B. Windsor, Taylor M., Klein. Great way to end last game as seniors with state championship
Congrats to all of the seniors on the team
BACK TO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
what’s the team going to look like next year? anybody behind the seniors?
Chap is getting way too much credit for the incredible talent bubble that is the boys MHS class of 2009. These boys have been incredible since they were in diapers. A monkey could have taken these boys to the baseball and hockey states – - and I bet the monkey wouldn’t have had Taylor Mondshein bunting with two strikes on him nor give his sophomore, JV son an at bat before EVERY senior on the team got one.
ALL THE CREDIT TO THE BOYS!!! WAY TO GO TIGERS!!
Perfectly stated, MHS Alum! Much agreed!
small complaint in the big scheme – it’s not easy shepherding such a talented group through a season with such great expectations going in. And credit coach Glaser for not only taking these kids through top summer competition but adding a lot to the process during the MHS season.
FYI, Chap got the bench players in—as Josh stated, senior Matt Levinson had an RBI hit. Deano is a terrific baseball and hockey player and most deserving of the at bats and ice time he earned this year. You can have all the talent in the world but it takes a great coach like Mike Chiapparelli (and his staff) to pull it all together. I’m sure they will have the team right back in the thick of things in 2010 despite the graduation of this very special 2009 class.
Way to go, Tigers—we’re so proud of a job well done!
To Repeat at 7:37pm – - If EVERY senior got in the game in some way (not even an at-bat, but a pinch run or time in field) before “Deano”, I hereby pledge $1K to the Mamk Schools Foundation to be directed to the sports program. It will be anonymous, of course, but I guarantee it. There’s no way that all the seniors boys who rode the pines all year got in the game before the coach’s son and that’s fundamentally wrong with Chap. If they did, I will gladly write the check…
they have a great jv team coming up and not just scott and dean. They have pitching, great bats and a very strong catcher. Chap will have them back in good shape next year, even if Joe does take off.
Congrat to Chap and the 2009 baseball team. A great run because of great kids and a great coach. All concerned put in the time and stayed true to each other. A class like this doesn’t come along everyday. But even with talent you could lose. Credit to the whole program and the family atmosphere Chap creates. GO TIGERS!!!!! Sorry I couldn’t make it.
To Alum,
Chap got the seniors in. What’s the problem?
Why be anonymous MHS Alum? Why not be a man (or woman) and say who u are if you’re going to rip chap, and then write your check. Or how about getting all the facts first? Then you could’ve stated something based on fact and possibly saved yourself from putting $1k on the line? Jeez…
Congrats to Mamaroneck and the great run…If Chap played his son so be it! ITS NOT LITTLE LEAGUE…stop whining and let the damn guy coach and PLAY whomever he chooses…its NOT play to play and all of the whining is whats wrong with HS sports…parents just let things be as they are and enjoy a TEAM sport…Your out of control all over the country not just section 1….
After reading all of this why would anyone want to coach HS sports. This coach just guided a team to 2 straight NYS Class AA Titles! Plus another to a final in hockey (from what I read), it just goes to show that you’re better off cutting those dead-weight, lazy, cancerous seniors (and their parents) and going with your young and hungry youth. So for all of you coaches who try to do the “right thing” and carry those “good kid” seniors- even though you have more talent on the JV (or 9th grade team) DON’T DO IT! Cut them and let them enjoy their last few months of HS! Word on the street is that Pennel will be enrolled at Mam’k next year, any truth to that? Has anyone heard that yet?
Rough crowd! Congratulations to both Mamaroneck and Dobbs on great seasons. They represented section 1 well.
There really is no need to bash Mamaroneck. They have had an incredible run. Coach Chap has always put a fundamentally sound team on the field. Lets not assume anyone could have guided these kids to two state championships. A lot more goes into it then most think.
I am non partial observer who is giving credit where credit is due. Leave the negativity be. Let the kids, community and coach enjoy the moment!
In the interest of passing along all the proper facts, there are 17 seniors on the roster in the program. Of the 17, 14 played. I believe the three who didn’t play were all pitchers, but I’m not 100 percent positive. One of them was Andrew Benkwitt, who only pitches and plays the field and who started the semis.
Congrats to Chap and his team. You need talent, good coaching and a little luck to go that far. Winning is not a given. Ditto to “So it ain’t so” Cut em all who live in fantasy land. The coach knows best!
Totally untrue on pennell. Just a rumor. Besides there’s no need for him to transfer for his Sr year when he is already getting recruited now and things wrap up before sr baseball season.
I hear Rosenfeld may be transferring for his senior season to RN, so he doesn’t need to be part of the rebuilding in Mam’k. Any truth to this?
For those of you who have never been to a Mamaroneck practice over the last few years, or simply don’t know who that guy wearing #42 is, Joe Glaser is the unsung hero of this team. He has been coaching these kids for most of their lives, and he deserves a lot of the credit (at least as much as chap, if not more) for the back to back titles. He is an incredibly hard working coach he always does what’s best for the team, and with his two sons playing the left side of the infield that can be difficult. But overall, a huge congratulations to all the players and all the coaches, it has been an amazing run. I wish the graduating seniors all the best luck in college, and I know that next year’s tigers are going to work their ass off to get a fraction of the recognition of this most recent team. It’s been fun guys.
congratulations tigers!! you guys deserve it, so does chap and every single person who worked to get the team to where they got. i have known chap almost my entire life, and he is the single most hardworking and fair coach i have ever met. He gets the job done and is fair to his players. Dean is a great player and deserved to play he should not be punished based on his last name. GREAT SEASON TIGERS!!!!!!!!!! BACK TO BACK!
The staff at LMC-TV would like to congratulate the Mamaroneck baseball team on their accomplishment. It’s been great working with the student-athletes, coaching staff, and administrative staff all season! Good luck to everyone in college!
Josh – thanks for going above and beyond the call of duty these past couple of weeks. I saw the Buffalo paper’s blog yesterday and it basically was 1 or 2 brief updates. I’m sure I’m speaking for more than myself in saying your insights and frequent updates were terrific.
Congrats to Mamaroneck. There will always be “haters,’ but the truth is they have a great coach, tremendous athletes and i can bet if you asked all the seniors not one would be upset with their playing time. Why do parents think its about them? Little Chap is a very good player, and came through with an RBI single. Stop trying to bring down a team that has brought home two state championships in a row.
Kudos to coach Chap, his entire staff and all of the players. There is nothing negative to take from this run…and if you are going to bash someone personally and whine like a baby sign your name and take some pride in yourself.
How about Windsor stepping up? And Chap for understanding that a kids future is more important than one game. Sean Hagan was on limited rest. He is a promising lefty with a full ride to the top baseball program in the northeast. It is so nice to see a coach truly “get it.” So many coaches ruin kids because they get caught up in the moment and want to look good themselves. Could Sean have pitched and won…probably. Great job by Windsor and McGovern for stepping up on the mound. Unselfish across the board. A lot of coaches should take notes on this. There is a reason so many young arms get ruined…OVERUSE IN HS!
In his story Josh did not even note that the team won 2 without their ace being available due to terrible scheduling by the state association. How’s that for depth?
From all of DF, Congrats Mamk!
Coach Chap may have already done these Seniors a favor by carrying them on the team for the benefit of their college applications. The tradition of bringing up JV ball players to the Varsity is recognized by all who understand the concept of team building. The critics should attend practice and see that Chap gives time to all his players development, but you still have to have talent to play at a high level. He may have also taken in to consideration that not everyone wants to “get up” or “pinch run” because it may be embarrasing to him in front of his teammates and friends. It amazes me how jealosy and envy raises its nasty head in sports, but not in the arts or creative endeavors. Congradulations to Mike, his coaching staff, and the players of Mamaroneck’s baseball team.
And as to the critics why don’t you get out with Mike and the team and start running in the early winter mornings so that you will have a better understanding of the team relationships and chemistry, and you too MHS alum and save yourself a thousand dollars.
a lot of words said yesterday based on partial information that today look as foolish as they possibly could – i know, i was one of them. luckily coach chap has seen and heard it all and knows to look beyond that – that adults are to be ignored – it’s about the kids. congrats to the boys, the coaches and parents.
Chap is—probably, as I haven’t dealt with coaches from many other towns—the best HS sports coach in the section, and up there in the state. His hard work, dedication, and never sleep attitude is why he has taken four consecutive teams to the state playoffs. Chap was a triple overtime away from 4 consecutive trips to the state final 4! He’s made it to the last 3 state final fours in 2 DIFFERENT sports. Is there a coach in the state that has had that kind of success? In the nation? You’d be hard-pressed to find one.
You can say: “Oh, he just had incredible talent, it’s not Chap.” And you’re right, he did have incredible talent. But that talent seems to come through Mamaroneck fairly often, since his hockey and baseball teams are consistently among the top teams in the section every single year. Does he win a section championship every year? No. Does he win state titles every year? No. But he’s consistently among the top teams in the section, and that counts for something.
He just won 2 state titles, and was a state runner-up in a span of 364 days. I’d say he’s a pretty darn good coach. Congrats to Chap—and to his remarkable athletes—for an incredible season, an incredible year, and incredible careers in Mamaroneck.
Josh—-will you guys be attending the section 1 awards dinner tomorrow night?
Fan…No. I probably would have but I am covering the U.S. Open this week. Not a bad alternative.
