BREAKING NEWS: Pennell ends search, chooses Elon

July
26

A few days ago I wrote about the spirited chase for Ryan Pennell. It appears the Rye Neck star has ended that chase, choosing to pitch for Elon.

I confirmed it earlier tonight with Pennell, who had received offers from more than 10 schools since July 1.

I’ll have more from Pennell about his decision tomorrow.

Congrats to Ryan! I have a son in the RN program now and can tell you this couldn’t have happened to a nicer kid and family. He’s worked hard and has the ability to excel at Elon. I was told by one of the coaches at RN that Pennell is the first kid to commit to a D-1 school for Baseball from Rye Neck since 1996 (I believe Ralph Vasami who went to UPenn). Great for Ryan and the entire RN program. Hopefully more to come!

Congratulations to Ryan and his Mom and Dad!! Ryan has wroked very hard and gotten what he deserved. While it may have been a tough decision because of all the calls and offers from great programs, it was an easy decision for Ryan. Since he visited Elon on June 26th while we were down south, he beamed everytime he spoke about Elon. They were also the only school to see Ryan pitch every outing he made from SC to GA to VA. They wanted him badly and they did everything to let him know that he IS their guy.
