Fall ball key league for Catholic programs

If you missed it Tuesday, I wrote a story about the CHSAA’s fall baseball league, which has existed for more than three decades and remains a key developmental league for the spring baseball season. You can read the story here.
There are examples of players who benefitted from playing fall baseball. I also found it interesting that coaches use the fall as an extended tryout. In actuality, their teams (right or wrong) are mostly picked by the time the fall is over.
The Catholics have a major advantage here in: A) building their programs, B) readying young players for varsity action, and C) putting the right players on the team, and playing them in the right positions.
Do you agree? I believe what the coaches said to be true. The weather in the spring is brutal, and you don’t get an adequate representation of a player’s ability during spring tryouts.
Do any public-school programs have fall workouts/scrimmages?

Josh, I don’t believe the public schools are allowed to do this however all of the top players in Section 1 (unless playing a fall sport) are currently playing fall baseball for either the Bayside Yankees, New York Nine, Taconic Rangers or the World Yacht Clippers. The competition these teams are playing is top notch and much better than the CHSAA fall league.
..why would the Catholic schools be allowed to do fall ball but not the public schools?
The teams and schedules are set for the Fall Edition of the Battle at the Border . http://www.pcbattleattheborder.com/index.html
Who is on the college select team this year…..usually loaded with section 1 all section players
section one is a terrible league less than 5 players throw above 80 in it
Word is that Billy Demersky LHP of the Clippers from Mahopac has committed to Young Harris College in Mahopac. Any confirmation from the Clippers?
Must have, it’s on the Clippers Web site. Congratulations to him. The school is a really good JC, and looks like quite a number of their players transferred to 4 year schools – some good baseball schools off the 2009 roster. Any particular reason why Espinal went to Albany ? He was at one time in the top 350 in the country and is a possible future MLB pick. Just curious.
Robbie Aviles was ranked the 65th best 2010 draft prospect in the nation by Perfect Game (Bryce Harper was first). For the ‘10 draft, that means that he is the #2 ranked player in New York state (Brian Dupra, #51, Notre Dame- Rochester native) and 5th in the northeast (Anthony Ranaudo, #3, LSU, New Jersey native, Jesse Hahn, #6, Virginia Tech, Connecticut native, Matt Harvey, #52, UNC, Connecticut native). Despite this being an early ranking, just a note, the 65th overall pick last year signed for $900,000
...and Aviles melted down against JJCR in the sectional playoffs last year and got bombed by Mamaroneck the year before that. Hope you grow up Robbie.
Baseball America has Aviles listed as the 22nd best High School Draft Prospect. Are there any other local players the could possibly be drafted next year????
Hopefully Aviles’ succcess will help other kids in the area get noticed, more so for college than pro.
Keep a close eye on
Jonathan De Marte RHP 3B/1B 6-1 185 R R Lakeland Yorktown Hts. NY
He is Ranked 203 in his class and should only move up.
thank you mr demartee for the information. he could be a very good one indeed
please stop with those rankings…....if you pay enough money to perfect game and other money grabbers they will rank you whereverer you want to be ranked. just keep writing the checks and they will tell you how good you are.
really doesn’t mean a thang…
Yeah ok. Thanks for the great info
you are welcome for the information. if you don’t know, now you know…........ just the facts, no disinformation here.
wow dude, i guess you weren’t ranked. you don’t have to pay them just have either played in their events, or have been seen by their guys. it has nothing to do with paying them money. don’t come on here with your bitter attitude, lack of knowledge and spread BS. you sound like the bayside yankees who happen to be banned from Perfect Game events so they don’t get ranked by them. called sour grapes.
some dude tells the facts, then another dude says he was not ranked and is only complaining ;
what is the truth?
do you have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to be considered for a ranking? if you need to pay to be ranked it is BOGUS….i get solicitations every day from clowns willing to “help” so long as you pay them…
Word Up
Aviles is going to get drafted by MLB. De Marte is going to get $$$$ to play ball in college. If Perfect Game helps them or others get noticed, what’s wrong with that????
Bottom line is if you’re good, PG will only help with getting more exposure.
I think you made my point…Because Bayside pissed them off, PG will not rank their players? So you are saying that “only” if you pay up and are in good standing that you will be ranked. Doesn’t sound very legit to me?
Just what I said it is…..PAY to be ranked. Also, kissing a little butt will not hurt either.(The Bayside Yankees must have told them that they are frauds).
Like I said: Just another money grabber, anong many, doing nothing for you that you couldn’t do on your own. That is the plain and simple TRUTH.
yo word, read what bbdad wrote before you pat yourself on your unranked back. there are lots of guys who don’t go to a pg showcase that get ranked, even bayside guys. the deal is, if they don’t get to see you then how can they rank you (try going to class too). if you play on a team that goes to their tourn, you get seen, if you want to go to one of their showcases, you can get seen. play on a local town team, or a team like bayside and they have little chance to know who you are. you still have to pay big bucks to play for bayside. they are banned for complaining and thinking that they are better then they really are. get over it. sometimes your just not good enough to be ranked. either way, find a situation that helps you thats what it all about.
Nobody cares what players are ranked anyway, the only thing that matters is where you end up playing after high school ball.
Stupidity
You are right about it’s where you end up playing after high school ball. But college coaches have to see you before they will offer you. These events give kids a chance to show their stuff in front of coaches that normally would never have seen them. Also, it lets kids see how they stack up against other players. I don’t see the harm in that.
What about those who can’t afford to take their kids to showcases, or PG events or to fly them south for a tournament? Is there a way for them to get their kids seen by college coaches too? BTW, I have no problem with those that are able to bring their sons to these events, but what about those that can’t, what should they do?
IONAS GONNA SUCK!!!!!!!!!! they have to many question marks to be good
A)Who else can hit besides Moran?
B)Who is going to replace Roche and Ladis
C)Who replaces Tyler Donovan?
D)Are they coachable?
E)Do they have any coaching?
Way to many question marks…Iona will remain on their Hiatus
Very true. Iona will be weak but Stepinac will be weaker. For the first time in many years, MANY Section 1 teams will be able to pound Iona and Stepinac in baseball.
1.When section one mans up and uses wood bats then they can talk…2. until then shut all of your mouths section one pitching is embaressing and 3. name one player who has recently had SUCCESS at the college level from section one because i cant recall any RECENT success that a section one player has had in the college and/or professional ball. please prove try and prove me wrong because you cant.
key to iona preps season lies on bob “bullet” birdman cerrone. his bp includes cutters trying to work the corners and get in on the hitters fist…also his superior 3b coach skills will have many envious. Sign him up major league baseball this guys a keeper.
listen joey carinha was and is the best to ever suit up for the Iona Prep gaels
I am not telling anyone anythinhg that they already do not know. Iona, Stepinac and, Fordham Prep will all be very weak this spring..Call me any name you choose to, but Section 1 baseabll will pound any and all of these 3 chssa teams. No question about it.
wait till the season….its easy to say stuff on here…its harder to actually go out and play the game…im sure ur some old guy who has nothing better to do than sit around and read the blogs…read em at the end of the year and we will see who is better
Section 1 Embaressment
What about Joe Panik, from JJ-EF. Names 2nd team Freshman All American. Not too bad!!!
Any news on Bradshaw?
Panik-2nd Team Freshman All American at St. John’s.
A)There are 5 starting position players returning for Iona. They may not be “Moran” type hitters, but they all can and already have competed on the varsity level.
B)Roche and Ladis did not live up to their hype. Roche had 1 or 2 wins and about 4 or 5 losses. Ladis was dominant when he did pitch but was hurt for most of the season. Replacing them ability wise will be almost impossible, but it actually will not be as tough as it seems because they did not produce as much as they could have.
C)Donovan was great on defense and decent at the dish. Not having him this year will be very tough for the gaels becuase he was such a defensive force.
D)Only time will tell if these kids are coachable. Gallo usually does not keep uncoachable kids around
E)They do have coaching. Caputo has been around this year and is easily one of the best coaches around.
The Truth about Iona
I can see that those points you made are false….Who else hit besides Moran last year that is so competitive? Will Caputo be around for the Spring? Will Gallo actually coach the team well this year? Will Roche, Ladis, and Donovan’s replacements step up?
It may be another tough year for the little Gaels of Iona Prep…although they do look better than Stepinac and Fordham as of right now
um tyler donovan was a great defensive force but I’d say Iona has a good 3-4 better hitters in their lineup easily than him this year. Let’s be honest, Steven Roche was brutal last year and pitched 2 good games the whole season and peter ladis was a .300 hitter which is replaceable and while hes a ridiculous pitcher the poor kid was hurt all season. Keep bashing Iona, they’ll suprise people this year.
Even you CHSAA guys need to concede the fact that I already know. Fordham, Iona and Stepinac are no better than about 20 or more Section 1 teams this coming season. And a lot worse than some. Very unusual, but absolutely true.
Let’s hope there are many inter-league games on the schedule to give us the answer.
Ciocchi also from JJEF was newcomer of the year in America’s East Conference. From RCK – Matt Scherer RHP around 2003 pitching
AAA for St.Louis Cards. Sean Paino starting CF .300+ hitterLemoyne , Alec Cabello completed his career @ Canisius was team captain… just off the top of my head those are three players who went on to do well from Section 1Out of 2010s – Aviles and Pennell if they remain healthy should have success. Josy Espinal from Beacon has big-time skills and is being looked at by the MLB scouts.
I’ve seen Moran play and he is very polished at the corner and has a great approach at the plate. Rarely do you see him have a bad AB.
I can tell you about every Iona return
Moran- All-Starm great hitter, great SS, do it all player
Fiorito- Good Hitter, Good 1B, looks lost at times
Sullivan- Potential is there has had 2 tough years but he has the ability he just reacts late to the pitch
Bartnett- Good Fastball hitter, Can not hit an off-speed pitch to save his life
Kiklis- Strong Kid, has great power great arm, very very inconsistent
LaSorsa- Did not do anything good last year…was not a good player at all
Cebek- Great pitcher and solid bat, good fielder, a little weak but could be a key player
If those players step up, Iona is the team to beat in the Bronx-Westchester cause other than Bradshaw and Martinez Step is not like Iona
Section 1 Dude:
“Let’s hope there are many inter-league games on the schedule to give us the answer.”
OK, first of all, you use metal bats…Iona basically beat Somers last year in a scrimmage with half of its starting lineup, while Somers was hitting the same 4 guys over and over. So even if they do use metal Iona/ Stepinac/ Fordham can beat anyone in section one…The BX-WC was the most competeive league and best pitching by far…Mount: Cardona/ Rivera Stepinac: Bradshaw/ Byrne Fordham: Lisante Iona: Roche/ Ladis…The fact that the amount of kids that hit .300 against this pitcing is impressive in itslelf.
If anyone wants to know the key to Iona’s sucess, its gotta be Coach Caputo…the team is playing better than they have in several years, now that Caputo is back and coaching the fall…If Iona wants to be a great team, they will need Caputo around in the spring!
Breaking down Iona’s returning players who started last year at some point:
Moran: enough said
Firito: the kid can hit, one of four homerun threats on the Gael attack…tall lanky 1b…also throws the ball well from the rubber
Sullivan: Strong kid, has been moved to center and is struggling…swinging the stick well won’t come as any suprise. Definitly a homerun threat. Throws the ball well from the hill. is a great 3b, but the gaels infield is too crowded for a spot, plus his athletism makes him and easy candiate for the OF. Decent speed
Bartnett: fastball hitter, little too tense with 2 strikes and struggles with offspeed. Has a chance to be a solid DH
LaSorsa: has a chance to be good, just has to get out of his head. IF skills have improved imensly
Kiklis: Strong/ athletic kid. strong arm, above average range in the OF, hits for power, but struggles with consistency. Another homerun threat for the gaels this year. probably the hardest runner on the team
Cebek: can he stay healthy? good patient hitter, but is too weak to do any damage. Could be a decent pitcher for the gaels.
this is some of the stupidest stuff i’ve heard. metal vs wood, etc etc. Nice story about the kid above who moved to the OF. If he was the stud you say, no one would move him. With wood bat and all the great pitching in the chsaa, the game comes down to bunting, stealing and timely hitting. your 3B is one of the most important id positions. Homerun threats? please. how many hr’s did Iona hit last year? 2 and that was with Roche hitting. stop patting yourself on the back and win something. beat a Section 1 team. 2 years ago Kennedy embarrased them in their own tourny. nuf said.
lords I would like to know who you are because you are either some kid who got cut from the team who sucks and decides to take his anger out on the iona team or you are some freak who studied everything iona did last year and you need to get a life and worry about yourself because I’m sure your no stud either
my brother goes to iona and i watch the baseball team sometimes and watch their games and there not good they cant hit BP for their life. I know the kids on the team and seen wat theyve been doin heres some insider on em
SULLIVAN : is recoverin from a weak junior year he has been hitting really well in BP but in the games its just not there for him
MORAN : Might hit .500 and with power hes one of the only bright spots for the gaels
LASORSA: has no power a line drive hitter but thats the thing he doesnt hit too many line drives
DEMARITA- Sophmore he is also line drive hitter who will only get singles and is below average with the glove
FIRITO- returning for his junior and i agree the kid looks lost but he is solid with the glove i rember he made a crazy catch verse us last year and is inconsistent hitting
KIKILIS- i believe has the most power on the team but needs to make more contact . great arm and shows great hustle
MURATORIE- is lookin good with the bat but dogs everything
FOLI : dont know too much about him but hes good with the glove seen him hit once and grounded out
PALADINO or BARTNET : one of the worst defensive catchers i have ever seen and hes not even that good with the bat so teams will be stealing on them alot
JOEY P IS MA BOY SONNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look people, the Gaels have the ability to shock you guys. Led by Colin Moran this team has the ability to show that they are a different team then last year. With returing starter Cristian Fiorito a solid player, Colin Moran just an outstanding player, Matt La Sorsa has potential, Beau Kiklis a hustler brings a lot to the team, Kevin Bartnett a hard worker, Brian Sullivan who has a lot of potential who can throw the ball off the mount. They do not want what happened last year to repeat. With the addition on juniors such as Nick Salzano, Jimmy Foly, Justin Muratore, Justin Palladino, and Rob Ambrosino this team has made improvements. They have also added a middle infielder. A sophmore Vinny DeMaria who handles the glove nicely and can hit. This is a differnt team. Led by the seniors they want this to be a different year.
dude if anyone knew half of the kids you just mentioned that would be good all i know is the kids returnin from last yr. if u want me to tell u what i think about them lemme no cause it aint good and who r u some gay gael who puts in the teams stats every day
No room for a senior in the infield? That’s because he is being pushed out by a very below average sophomore. It helps when your dad played for the same coach. Iona is very consistent though. Ability really doesn’t matter…...... Great comment on Gallo though, he doesn’t keep kids around who aren’t coachable….now that’s funny. Don’t deify him PLEASE…his coaching ability is marginal at best.
Iona has always been about legacies over ability…..Get used to it because it is the way it will always be. That cranky old geiser should have been sent out to pasture years ago? Caputo is very good but has never been given the chance to succeed as head coach?
Stepinac at least tries to put the most talented team on the field? Duffy is the best coach in the CHSAA. No question about it!
how is the sophmore below average please explain? and his dad played for gallo too?
Dont mess with the gael attack they are the most talented team i dont think fordham or stepinac will nearly be as good as them this year… dont get me wrong they are good teams and they will do good but just not iona they will suprise people
Yes, his dad played for Gallo it is another example of the nepitism and cronyism that is soooooo prevalent at Iona. Tryouts are a waste of time. Play for the diamond buddies and assure yourself a spot. These teams are picked before the kids even get there. gallo has been coaching there for at least 30 years so now he is on to the second generation. The program is a joke. It survives on its reputation and the only reason they have had winning teams in the past is because of all this nonsense. Legacies???? You’ve got to be kidding!!! This isn’t the Yankess.
Emotionally involved in the game? I wasn’t there, don’t know the kid or father but it sounds like someone finally had the nerve to speak out against bad behavior. it is a game for God’s sake! What about sportmanship and to take it a step further it is the CATHOLIC high school league.. Doesn’t sound very Christian to me. Must be a friend of yours so you can’t be objective. Judging by your language, you’re as big a loser as the kid..and if you really are an ump..OMG Don’t care if it is the world series or some snotty, entitled brat…..there is no excuse for that on a baseball field! Period
You really don’t know what you are talking about, to trash fine people and fine organizations like diamond buddies sounds like the person who wrote that has issues! Maybe he didn’t make one of their teams trying to hurt them – the problem is they really don’t care you can say all you want, knock yourself out! As for the game with the umpire the Stepinac kids said the opposing team was safe!! Pareres pitched a great game and happen to be right by the umpire – nothing else happened get your facts straight!! Sad you have the time to do this??? It’s actually funny that no one cares either!!!
tHATS SOUNDS RIGHT TO ME sAD BUT TRUE – GET A JOB – MAYBE EVEN A LIFE!!!! tHE PERSON MUST BE INFERIOR OR THEY WOULDN’T BE TRASHING OTHERS. sad
All the high school teams are good, they do their best to play their best players if you can’t cut it practice, practice, practice!!!! The person trashing others -
why don’t u reveal yourselfAre you a Coward? Yup looks that way to me!good luck to all the high school teams out there play hard!!
People send your kids to a college you can afford there are SUNY schools out there ya know!!! Stop with the critiqing kids that’s down right terrible and just shows envy. Issues isn’t the word! Exactly—- all the high schools are good and if you don’t play hard or with heart don’t play at all!!! that goes for any sport or life for that matter!
If you kids spend more time on your school work and less time on talking about other kids maybe they could get an academic scholarship now here’s a thought!!!!
SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA TO ME!!!!!
Fred Gallo is one of the only true good baseball men left in the CHSAA. Not surprisingly, a disgruntled senior parent speaks out and complains about his style because their son isn’t good enough to start on what should be a competitive team. SURPRISE! WOW!
Also, saying that Coach Duffy is the best coach in the CHSAA is a total joke. Maybe he’s the best recruiter, but certainly not the best coach.
yo that kid is right sounds like your really jealous to keep bringing it up – that kid plays with alot of heart and as for the father hes very successful—- probably jealous in both areas – cause i was there he did not curse out anybody – sounds like sour grapes cause fordham BEAT stepinac 2 in a row in playoffs for the city champs!!!! R u the same coward? Probably LOL Fred Gallo is a great coach obviously another jealous kid who cant cut it, complaining about him!!! Grow up people!!! At least everyone agrees about academics thats a good sign
I love Fred Gallo he is a great coach and a good man if you really know him. Sounds to me like some of these disgruntled parents are worse than the kids! wow thats scary! ISSUES IS RIGHT
Heres the deal:
Stepinac’s Coach Duffy is a great recruiter and coach! Nothing wrong with that, after all the Gaels brought in LJ Mazzilli two years ago, you don’t think some recruiting went on there? Coach Gallo may not be a great manager, but when it comes to his players, he makes them better people! He has an unusual style of coaching, but that is what being a baseball coach is all about…With Coach Caputo and Coach Gallo together, it’s a solid program. No one should be trashing anyone…btw when ever a game is played on the road (at Iona or at Stepinac) the calls are going to go to those teams, its just the way it works
SUNY schools are good too!!!!!! dont worry guys
Get of your horse and stop talking about SUNY schools and academic scholarships…what does it have to do with the CHSAA fall league…that Parares kid is crazy, I have followed Fordham for awhile and even gone to see some of their players over the summer…the kid is out of his mind, but if you ask me, baseball is about having balls
fordham swept stepinac 2 in a row for the victory I guess they’re still pissed!!! LOL
A true baseball program holds on to their coach for a long time! it creats tradition and shows how succesful the program is…Coach Duffy will be at Stepinac for a long time, guaranteed…and he will continue to get crazier, just like Coach Gallo…The two are very similar. Look at some college programs, coaches stay at there school for decades…no secret that Iona is a top notch program, not bases soley on results, but respect and tradition and consistency
Joe pareres has a tremendous amount of heart and I was at the game. The umpire egged him on and wanted to show authority. Any ump with experiance knows to walk away. You people think what u want the kid was upset with the call and should have been.
lmao SOUR GRAPES
Frank I couldn’t be more on your side…that ump had no right to walk over to the dugout…the kid said what he did…you give the kid a look and polietly give the coach a warning, and you can glance at the kid, but you don’t walk up to the opposing dugout and egg a kid on…just cause he made a wrong call doesn’t give him the right to report a kid
I AGREE – SOUR GRAPES FOR STEPINAC – FORDHAM WON FAIR AND SQUARE FACE IT ALREADY!!!!
It wasn’t even close for stepinac!! Iona isn’t acting like this? they have class that’s why.
Hey CHSAA i heard some of your stepinac kids are crazy one is on the bench with a disciplinary problem want to talk about that? What did he do?
Anybody know what the stepinac kids did? I heard they are covering it up
yooooo what happened with that? Tell the kid above academics will get him into college he doesn’t have to worry if he’s inferior that’s what it has to do with the fall league – stop pushing so much take it slow and study!LMAO
what kids?
Iona does have class and nice kids too!!
HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD – SOUR GRAPES FOR STEPINAC!!! NOT GOOD
yea what happened, i heard something like that too LMAO
HEY THERE ARE SAT COURSES OUT THERE TOO IN CASE ANY OF U NEED THEM START EARLY! I AGREE SUNY SCHOOLS ARE GOOD TOO
What happened with those kids on bench?
who was it?
IONA PREP IS A GREAT SCHOOL AND HAS GREAT SPORTS PROGRAMS, AND GREAT COACHES, ANYONE EVEN TRYING TO TRASH THAT CANT BE TOO BRIGHT – THEY OBVIOUSLY LOST TO THEM SOMEWHERE, IN SOME SPORT – MAYBE ALL SPORTS!!! MORE THAN THAT THE KIDS ARE GOOD STAND UP KIDS! SO I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE PERSON WHO SAID OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE OUT THERE ARE JEALOUS. VERY VERY SAD.
IONA PREP IS A GREAT SCHOOL, WITH GREAT SPORTS PROGRAMS, GREAT COACHES AND GREAT KIDS!!! I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE PERSON ABOVE OBVIOUSLY CANT MATCH UP -
what happened with stepinac kids on bench?
CHSAA:
First of all I have no idea what you are talking about with the stepinac kids because I am not involved with Stepinac…so i know nothing about that…however I was at the Iona game today and they beat Mount 4-1
this question is for puh-lease…What does having playing for Diamond Buddies have to do with playing for Iona? How do you know this kid’s father went to Iona and played for Coach Gallo? And why does it matter if he did go there and he did play for him? I’m just a little confued on that.
if i could say one thing it would be that JUSTIN PALLADINO HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE THE BEST HITTER IN THE LEAGUE. The GAels by far have the best depth on their bench. Here are some great bench players and teammates.
Anthony cucuzza: when he gets to play he hustles and shows his power he has 8 Rbis in 4 games this fall thats a run producer
RIch Camisa: WHo knows where this guy has been because iona mite need his rubber arm in the future
Wolfard von blalastein- lefty specialist who can also hit
Julian Maier – he reminds me of some sort of horse
Billy Brusack: is a great defensive second basemen
Danny LOvett: a great looking kid whos favorite dessert is bananas with a choclate mc flurry…. one of the best fielders on the team
anthony cucuzza is an elite baseball player. There is no doubt that not only will he be playing at the next level being college but also the pros. The kid is a bonafide 5 tool player. He runs a 6.4 60 yard dash, throws about 90-92 off the mound and from the hole at ss, in bp he sprays the ball all over the field and just recently he took cc sabathia yard at a yankee practice. Hes a projected 2nd to 3rd rounder and hes only JUNIOR! CHSAA needs to watch out cuz anthony “molerat” cucuzza is on the track to a hall of fame career, cant wait to see the kid wen hes in the bigs let alone dominating hs

This Cacuzza kid is the next Dustin “Pedey” Pedrioa. just from the left side…scary thought…word is he is going to take whatever he gets outta high school and forget college…he told me that the only way he goes to college is if Clemson offers him a full ride…orange and purple are his favorite colors
go on the diamond buddies web site ‘nuff said. as far as what does the kid’s father having played for gallo have to do with anything? you can’t be serious. it is called nepitism cerone runs diamond buddies along with demaria get it now?
It’s astonishing that there are people on here trashing any high school team or player. You all need to get your morals straight bc your actions are terrible. Attacking teams and players, these are high school kids. This isn’t the MLB. These kids play for fun and by doing this you take the fun out of it. Also who are you to say if these teams will be good or bad kids improve over the summer and there are kids in the league we have never even seen before.
name the kids who played for diamond buddies in the summer and is playing for iona
Hey diamond buddies, do u have anything better to do than talk about nepotism? Seriously go reeavluate your life. This is my point it’s high school baseball there r more important things in life.
no i still dont get it buddy. cerone having to with diamond buddies has nothing to do with it. you earn a spot. and demaria has nothing to do with it. him playing for gallo has nothing to do with it
these blogs r completly pointless, people just trashing eachother, last year is in the past and a team just needs to get hot at the right time in order to win, look at fordham not dissing them in anyway, they clicked at the right time, and it won them the chip, just be THANKFUL becuz most will not play at the college level
all i can say is wow you know nothing about the ways of the world. like your naivete though
go on the diamond buddies web site ‘nuff said. as far as what does the kid’s father having played for gallo have to do with anything? you can’t be serious. it is called nepitism cerone runs diamond buddies along with demaria get it now?
who do u play for i wanna no ???
Hey diamond buddies i would just like to make a statement that you sound like a whining toddler.
i know nothing??if the kid was just on the team because cerone runs diamond buddies or demaria he wouldnt be on varsity he was just play @ his own level. the kid thus far as earned a spot. nothing is set in stone yet
That kid is an awesome player, he got to that level because he earned it and deserves it anyone who says otherwise is really just jealous- doesn’t matter who you know you still have to perform or your gone! Again with the jealousy wooow it just doesn’t end!! Everybody’s got a story to tell – it would help if it were true!!!
dude who are you u dont even know how to spell the kids name its demarea you probably never seen him play youre just makin up stuff cuz he plays for Diamond buddies or whatever its called
yea really dude do u take spelling in school? LMAO
yooo u pps need to watch that televsion piece u smell me dog
it DeMaria. The kid is a good player.Mike have you seen him play? Do you think he is good?
All of you are taking away from all the kids who played for diamond buddies. I was on the team this past summer and I can definatly say that all of the kids from diamond buddies made it because they are good. Yes I understand that this kids dad played for gallo but I garentee you that he is one of the best if not the best sophmore in the whole CHSAA…. he can field, hit, and has a good arm…. oh and they only reason why you people dont like diamond buddies is probably because we beat your ass over the summer.
hey wise one all of those fordham seniors are on their college teams – not so wise now r ya! LOL
what you just said had absolutly nothing to do with what i was saying so please… don’t even talk i didn’t say anything about fordham so there was no reason for you to even say anything.
i was talking to wise one see “hey wise one” do u have english in your school or maybe that’s composition? btw the diamond buddy teams and kids r good, i totally agree one of the teams came in 3rd or something like that out of 54 teams in a tournament somewhere in NJ -
all these kids r friends from all the high schools they play on teams outside of high school and for their high schools, they know each other from grammar school, etc. why dont u people stop already!! its beyond ridiculous!! watch some tv like that kid said.
OK guys. That’s enough of this discussion. I think everyone has made their points a number of times. Let’s move on.
TOUCHE JOSH!!!!!!
DIDDO FINALLY, AN INTELLIGENT DUDE
lets see how demaria plays in the spring and he is one of the only sophmores playing this spring so its not too hard to say hes the best sophmore at least last year there were a sophmore on every team in the catholic league this year the sophmores arent as good
sanchez, u heard the man move on – your envy is killin us!!u obviously cant match up!!!!
Who plays for the Diamond Buddies?? There is no info listed on their website. Did any players get college offers??? Who did they play this summer???
Why can’t these summer teams have updated websites?
The reason summer teams do not update their websites is because they are run by a lot of money grabbing idiots…It is very easy to cash checks, but much more difficult to fairly administer a team..Never mind having the intelligence and discipline to keep current online statistics, schedules and results ? If I am wrong, please tell me so?
travel, u are wrong. for what purpose are stats needed. they are only as good and acurate as the person keeping the book is knowledgeable. we all established that with the way hs stats are kept. if u want to see who’s on the team, most rosters are posted. if you want to know how a kid is doing first hand, go to a game. all the locals played last weekend in Portchester Taconic, Clippers, NR, College Select. you just want information handed to you so you can come on here and rip the kids, coaches and organizations. all the websites have email info. send the coach an email and im sure he’ll give you information. BTW fall ball is informal, kids come and go between college visits, camps, showcases and even pro workouts. lots going on in the fall other then the summer teams, football, soccer etc.
administering a team is more about scheduling games, talking to recruiters, making travel arrangements (air, hotel, food, vans)helping players in your program, helping players not in your program etc etc. So yes, you are wrong that you seem to need stats and results. i would think the reason a lot is not posted is because no one wants to read the stuff written about players teams and results by folks like you who don’t know much but have huge opinions.
BTW some of the Clippers players including my son, will be going to the WWBA National Championships in Jupiter, FL later in October. check it out at http://www.worldwoodbat.com . they are playing for PG-NY Dark Green with the Clippers staff. College Select will be there also. The NY9 are headed to Arizona around the same time for a top event being held there. Haven’t got any info about Taconic (some guys went with the Clippers guys last year) or the Bayside Yankees.
The diamond buddies are a decent summer team. Nothing like the clippers or rangers. They didnt have any studs and I dont think any of there players even got offers or played college ball.
Sean Lafaye played for Diamond Buddies. You know, the kid who pitched for Dobbs Ferry and shut down JFK in the section championship game on their way to the State Championship Game…..The rangers are jfk? No…OK , no studs on the diamond buddies… LOL
clipper daddy,
“if you want to know how a kid is doing first hand go to a game.” real smart observation…..go 3 for 3 in one game that somebody is watching and then go 0-56 in the following 18 games? Great hitter in your opinion I guess.
Statistics tell the story over the long haul. Over time, any scoring mistakes will even out and you will be viewing statistics that will tell you something…...Only frauds want to hide from statistics in baseball because baseball is all about statistics.
Sometimes, the reason for no stats is, lack of intelligence and discipline to record and maintain them properly. Other times, it is a way to use smoke and mirrors to protect lousy players that are coaches kids and are clearly not as productive as other players.
a boy by the name of pete laddus or something like that also played for diamond buddies is now going to play for iona college so much for the db not playing college ball theory, they have very good players and very good teams!
Hey travel guy. Why not offer your services for free and pay your own expenses and do the stats/websites for the travel teams. I’m sure they would be more then happy to have someone of you knowledge and experience help them out. Being that it takes very little time to do all you ask, I’m sure you have just what they are looking for. Your da’ man.
Give Fletcher, Mercurio, Cuseta, Millman or Cerone a call. I’m sure they’ll take you up on it. Let us know hoe you make out. We are all interested in hearing.
i am not interested in travel guy
Watch out for Wolf Von Lowenstein he is a prince in every country besides Asia and the USA. He provides great spark to the gael lineup and has a power arm out of the bullpen.
You heard it here first….
You have to be kidding? For several thousand bucks per player. You can not “pay” a geek to keep book each game and put it on the team website? Have you ever looked at at “any” college baseball team “statistics” ? All colleges keep “comprehensive” statistics that are online for all to view. And they are pretty accurate to say the least….My services are not needed. It only takes an intelligent and disciplined individual. paid or volunteered, to keep accurate baseball statistics and post them…...Unless you are hiding something, or you are incompetent, statistics should be kept up to date! Sorry if you disagree.
Pete Laddis also played for diamond buddies now playing for Iona College, there goes that theory!!!! Diamond Buddy kids do play in college!!!!
ryan pennel played for diamond buddies and diamond buddies is a young organization so you dont know what your talking about
Laddis and Pennel are only two players. The clippers and rangers produce double digit college athletes yearly. plus, pennel recieved all his exposure from the clippers not the diamond budddies
Anyone who could tell me the history of the CHSAA baseball:
that includes city champions since 1980, bx-westchester division champs, a-division champs, archdiocesean champs, and league champs…and if possible explain how the system has recently changed from the a division to the 4 divisions (staten, bklyn queens, bx-wc, bx-manhattan)
I would appreciate this information, after all there is no info on the great history of this baseball league on the web
d budds
I was just pointing out that the Diamond Buddies website doesn’t have a roster listed so how does anyone know who plays for them? I’m sure they are mostly local kids, so why not list them. Also, do they ever play the Clippers, Rangers, etc.?
Travel baseball is a moron. how can you compare college baseball websites and college stats to summer ball? Sportis information departmenst, AD’s that travel. Hopefully you respond since everytime you write you prove your your a huge one
Hello A**Hole, I am Back!
You certainly named yourself appropriately because you are a complete A**Hole by anyone’s definition including your own.
If you are literate and concerned about running a quality program it is not very difficult to keep statistics and post them on a team website. Unless, as I said, you are trying to hide something? Or if you are simply interested in cashing checks and keeping the turnstile moving for new checks to cash..It really is that simple Mr. A**Hole….You are are a real jerk in addition to being your screen name by the way.
gotta’ love the foolishness on this blog. oh wait call Josh and have it removed like some people do lololol

Serio from Fox Lane did pitch for Clippers. Tax pitched for NY9, Drucker and Leiningen played summer for Proswing and Dan Collins played for the New York Bears.
I heard that Leiningen hooked with Collins to play Fall ball with the New York Bears but I can not confirm.
