  1. spectator

Since the leagues changed this year who are the favorites in them?

  2. sect 1 chsaaa

    CHSAA- IONA PREP

    AA-MAMARONECK
    A-LAKELAND
    B-KENNEDY
    C-KEIO

  3. Herbert Walson

How is Mamaroneck the favorite in AA when they lost 7 starters from last year? Maybe favorite in their depleted league but definitely not in AA? Kennedy has the same situation…who do they have? Lakeland I can agree with because they have solid pitchers returning and a good lineup. Keio never seen.

  4. hsbbfan

mamo has rosenfeld, really all that a teams needs. kennedy has baroni, smith, and flannegan.

  5. sect 1 chsaaa

herb the only team 2 teams i could see competing with mamaraoneck are suffern and john jay. still think chap is the best and hell figure it out. class b lost a lot of stars but kennedy is hungry after last year and has a great coach and will get it done. keio always wins. lakeland with arena and demarte will win and iona prep will take the bronx-westchester

  6. Shawn

Kennedy favorites in class B? its all about pleasantville. Pvilles top two pitchers going into this next season are Drew Lizardi and Forrest Drucker. Both pitched very well against Kennedy last year, neither was hit hard and both threw atleast 5 innings. Kennedy had to rely on sac flies and shoddy defense to push runs across and this was with corona, mercurio, etc..

  7. Don't think so

hey i think someone needs to recheck on the Bates situation. His dad was down south recently trying to make a contact and told us the deal with Tulane had fallen thru

  8. not surrised

remember that all of these “commitments” are coming from one individual salesman…..winter clinics will get you these type of offers…..pay first and ask questions later or so it goes?

  9. Tom

Does anyone know who won the WPBA or WBA fall league championships in the 18U division. The WBA website is no good and the WPBA site has nothing on the 18u final . Thanks

  10. dj frankie blaze

shawn- hasn’t kennedy ended pville’s season the last 4 years? get off the blogs and pray it doesnt become 5 years

  11. DAD

Bates is a Taconic Ranger, some one asked to cinfirm it. Every committment put on here by the “salesman” are legit as are his winter clinics. BTW you can call them anytime and ask your questions before you sign up.

  12. looking in

as far as the “salesman” and the winter workouts are concerned. why would anything negative be said about a place where young men can go during the winter months to keep in a positive environment with the opportunity to been seen for a posible scholorship. the “salesman” gives you the forum for a good student and good athelete to get some opportunitys that most of the high schools cannot.
But if you want your sons or daughters to have the negative attitudes that you have im sure you can host a beer pong party at your house while some of us are at winter workouts.

by the way, CONGRATS TO THE COMMITMENTS !!!!!!

  13. nynex

Kennedy owns Plesantville. going back to when they had kenny ferrer.

  14. Shawn

we’ll see this year. kennedy has owned pleasantville but this year the talent may be tipping the other way for once

  15. ...

    Dobbs > Kennedy

  16. 11

who are the best ‘11 players?

  17. rich viebrock

how many players from pville are playing in college next year?

  18. peter north

Tom Baroni vs Lizardi/Drucker?.......gotta go with Baroni on this one

  19. Righty

Curious to see if the class of 2011 will have any big splashes such as Duke, North Carolina or Florida. Are there any players capable of making it that far?

  20. the ball

Rich- Drucker definantly is and lizardi probaly will. they have an outfielder who i cant think of that may.

  21. Shawn

peter north, gotta disagree with you on that one.. and to right, if u want some big splashes in 2011 just look out for Demarte and Arena from lakeland.

  22. 11 players

Demarte is a 2011 from Lakeland and Scott Hagan is a 2011 from Mamaroneck

  23. SUFF FAN

Brennan is 2011 LHP at Suffern

  24. Jonathan

The WBA 18u championship and semi-finals were played at Kennedy Catholic High School. The NY Bears beat a team from Manhattan in the final. The NY Bears had several Greeley and Briarcliff players.

  25. baseball in section 1

are there any good hard throwing pitchers or good hitters from the ‘11?

  26. da

    read above about the pitchers

  27. Question

Who pitched the Championship game for the NY Bears?

  28. Question

Who pitched the championship games for the NY Bears?

  29. NEW Commitment

Just in…. Gregorio Devuax, the french transfer from brewster, HAS commited to play baseball at Keene State. – MOOON KIM

  30. guy

any news on michael bradshaw from stepinac? Heard he was receiving interest from maryland but that was just rumors

  31. Yo Question

The champion ship picher from the NY Bears was ALEX BASSO frrom put valley. NOT steven pino.

    ADIREL BARNES

  32. ..

^was that adriel barnes signing his own name incorrectly

  33. nybb

WANT TO SAY GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE PLAYERS,BUT TO A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY ,JOHN TELL YOUR SON THAT HE WILL DO GREAT ! HAPPY TO SEE ALL THAT HARDWORK PAYOFF GOOD LUCK FROM AL AND VINNY

  34. Pv

Reply to Adriel… Steven Pino is a Taconic Ranger not a NY Bear… Alex Basso did not play fall NY Bears when they were in the championships

  35. RE: QUESTION

Nick Leiningen from Greeley pitched the championship game for the NY Bears.

  36. Insider

    we knew that was coming

  37. ???

    knew what was coming?

  38. the man

unc by farly the best school of all of the by far….to bad colin plays on a terrible iona team otherwise he wudda gotten a full ride

  39. ??..

“by farly the best school of all of the by far” ..

  40. the man

    ??

of them* by far … sorry for the miscommunicataion

  41. baseball 101

    hey the man,

now that you corrected your poor grammar. just what the hell are you talking about?
no one gets a full ride for baseabll ….so a good academic school is the goal…what’s your point?

  42. Clipper Coach

You can add Brandon Serio from Fox Lane HS who told me today that he has committed to the University of Rhode Island.
This is great news from Brandon

  43. baseball 101

are any ny bears getting offers to play college baseball? they have a lot of top local guys on that team.

  44. Question

Did any of the bears or the Bears themselves play in any events that were scouted by college coaches or did they just play WBA? That could help answer the recruitment question

  45. bear

kennedy plays who this year-pawing-no.salem..dover-haldane-arlington b.. that is a joke period

  46. woah

bear- that is the league kennedy was assigned to….they didnt schedule these games…..their non-league opponents include lakeland, mahopac, carmel, st. rays, and mount saint michaels…..kennedy always plays an extremely hard non league schedule so you just must be a disgruntled briarcliff fan (a team that hasn’t even come close to beating jfk the last 4 years period)

  47. FAN

IS THAT REALLY THE LEAGUE KENNEDY IS IN??THAT IS AWFUL—I DO NOT WANT TO READ IN THE SPRING ABOUT ALL THE STATS THEY BUILD UP.THAT IS LIKE A DOUDLE DD LEAGUE

  48. ummmm

Jon De Marte to the University of Richmond

  49. coach

Nick Leiningen to Sacred Heart University

  50. curious

How doe DeMarte choose a school and have a committment when he is only at the beginning of his junior year. I thought you couldn’t commit that early. The 2010 class just finished how could a school make an offer so many things could happen to a player with 2 years of high school left

  51. Correction..

Michael Tandy is not going to Young & Harris

  52. OH Yeah

Where is Mike Tandy headed then ? Why would Demarte want to commit so early and take better schools then Richmond off the table ? That’s bogus for sure.

  53. galos

Demarte has committed to Richmond. He has verbally committed, a player can do that as early as he wants.(ala Steven Green to BC in the beginning of his junior year) Richmond had the best to offer him both ACADEMIC and athletic. What comes first in the term “student-athlete?” people always forget that.

  54. fellow ranger

congrats to jon on his decision…..good to know some kids realize its the EDUCATION that matters most

  55. committment

congrats on the decision. although he can do much better on the baseball part richmond is a great place to be academically

  56. Clipper Coach

If that is true for Jonathan, congratulations to Jon and to the deMartee family.

  57. Joke

Is Bates going with him now that Tulane gave his roster spot away? Richmond is good for Demarte, good baseball and the A-10 is a good academic conference. His parents have plenty of money so it’s a great fit even though i’m sure they gave him lots $$.

  58. Joke

Yo Yo fellow Ranger, where you going? Demarte was the one guy after green who could have gone to a good baseball scholl, the rest need good academic schools like Iona.

  59. j.d

Need good academic schools? More like good academic schools WANT these kids. Who cares what the calliber of the “baseball school” is. If you are good enough to get drafted you will be seen. Education is most important. Look at Dan Ztlotnick from Somers. Education first, Athletics second.

  60. Joke

Is that why Zlotnic went from the great academic school like Vermont and when there was no longer baseball he chose to go to the great academic school, “Marist” (yea right). Sounds more like he wanted to stay in the NE. Period.

  61. Correction..

Michael Tandy will be going to Wallace State a Jr. college in Alabama

  62. doors@us.ibm.com

Nick Boyd from John Jay – EF going to Central Conn. State from the NE Conference.

  63. LoHud Scout

Jon De Marte has indeed verballed to Richmond nad Chris Bates has changed his verbal to Richmond as well.

Much more to come on an interesting summer later.

  64. Question

How do u verbal when your not being offered any money? first Tulane and now Richmond.
Way to go Jon !!!! how bout Joe Arena? any word? How bout Bradshaw? Mr Bradshaw whats the word?

  65. Verbal

When you verbal to a school for no money it is non binding meaning that there is no letter of intent that needs to be signed in November…

  66. baseball 101

So what we are saying is that a “verbal committment” is not worth the paper it is NOT written on ! That’s great

  67. Indian Fan

you dont need a parents signature for a verbal these kids are kids

  68. 2011 sstuds

scott hagan will commit to big time school kid has lighting quick bat speed and can drive balls outta the park like a pro needs to mature a little and will have no limitations

  69. mamaroneck

in reference to what was talked about above…anybody who says that mamaroneck is going to be good this year has no idea what they’re talking about. they will win their league, but they have very little pitching, and absolutely no chance of winning more than one or two playoff games. rosenfeld and gruppo are both good players, but just having a good catcher and outfielder doesn’t win championships.

  70. bdlwwq

in reference to what was talked about above…anybody who says that mamaroneck is going to be bad this year has no idea what they are talking about. mamaroneck has more than gruppo and rosenfeld. they do have a lot of pitching just that not all of it will be good pitching. rosenfeld is going to pitch a bit this year and trust me he can bring it. they have ryan gershpach who through a complete game shutout against the utah state champs last year. they have robert gross who throws about 85 and has decent talent. they have greg dennysenko who may not be the hardest thrower but can spot the ball and he pitches like his brother who was the ace of mamk in 07’. scott hagan pitches too hes good but nothing like his brother. and they have more than 2 bats. yes theres gruppo and rosenfeld but scott hagan and dean chiapparelli are a great 1-2 punch for the class of ‘11. chiapparelli will get out whether its a bunt, walk or a blooper and hagan will no doubt drive him in. mamk might not be the most talented team next year but they will get the job done and win games. im not saying they are going to win the states or regionals but they will without a doubt have a run at the section title. another thing the mamk classes of ‘11 and ‘12 lost in the mid-atlantic regional finals over the summer while facing some of the best competition in the northeast so don’t rule out a young mamk squad this season

  71. mamaroneck

mamaroneck will win its league but will not make a run at the section title. there are too many good teams in the section and mamaroneck has too few weapons.
