I have confirmed that John Jay ace Will Jahn has full tear in his labrum and will be out for the season. The injury will require surgery, which is expected to keep the Northeastern-bound right-hander from pitching for eight to 12 months. Jahn is in the process now of deciding on which doctor to use for the surgery.
This is very sad news for Jahn and a huge loss for the Indians. He led the team in wins and innings pitched last year and is considered one of the top pitchers in Section 1. John Jay was thought to have one of the deeper pitching staffs in Class A coming into the season, but that depth will now be tested. Sam Mines, Trevor Filacchione, Alex Brown and Luke Weinhaus are expected to collectively try and fill Jahn’s role.
