We got two games for the price of one in the Class B final, with Albertus Magnus outlasting Keio for a 3-2 win 14 innings. Luis Herrera walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 14th, giving the Falcons their first section championship since 1994.
The two teams combined for just nine hits, with both teams benefiting from excellent pitching. Magnus took a no-hitter into the sixth, with ace Owen Lorenz starting on two days’ rest and delivering three impressive innings. The game MVP was junior James Reilly, who pitched 6.1 innings in relief without allowing an earned run and giving up just two hits.
Yuya Morita started for Keio and struck out five over five innings. Kenta Nishiyama came on in relief on two days’ rest, allowing one hit and no walks over eight innings. He was removed after the 13th inning, just before Magnus broke the scoring drought in the 14th.
